  • Bite detection

One thing I notice when peeps talk about rods is bite detection.I have two shore rods, one is an old Abu Ambassador(?)rock rod, bite detection average but the tip does\'nt move much in wind or with a good sea running.
The other casts the same weight with very good bite detection, even as far as I can cast.In a wind or a good sea tho\' the tip stots around like a twig in a gale.
Do either of these things happen with, say the Reelsport Response,or any other rod with \"good bite detection\"?
I await your responses with bated breath, cheers lads

Sorry ,the reason I ask is I am gonna get a Daiwa Supercast to go with my slosh20 and I need to know if \"good bite detection \"means a floppy tip,or a quick recovering tip.

Tat i have two longbeach rods from Terry Woods (now called the response) - they are fantastic rods and give the slightest bite detection - i dont get the tip stotting about in a heavy wind (heavy seas yes - but dont know of a rod that doesnt move with that problem)

      Give Terry a ring on 0191 4300247
i am sure he will talk you through the rods he builds

Don\'t know if this helps but I\'ve got a Daiwa TDXS129PM (next model up). It\'s a great rod that will cast 7oz but the tip is so sensative it can be impossible in any decent wind. My Kompressor Sport on the other hand will also cast 7oz but also stands up well to a strong wind and still clearly shows bites.

Thanks for the replies lads,BUT,I\'ve been and had a shop around.I went to North East Tackle in H/pool,and had a choice between 3.
An Imax 6 or 7,a rod built by Century but designed by them(both new),or a used Greys PZ Match(£110).I went for the Greys even tho\' the reel seat is low and fixed, and I\'ve never used a low seat, and my slosh 20 only once.
It\'s gonna be fun 1st time I use them.

I bought a pz match at the hardy/greys sale in october and have to say I like it a lot, for me it seems to be a good balance of stiffness, but not too stiff do that even the little nibbles get noticed

Am I right in thinking you can only use a max of 5ozs of lead.I don\'t use any more than that cos if a 5oz gtipper won\'t hold bottom,go home.

If a casting rating is 5oz I believe that this also includes bait. Sure someone will correct me!
