    best ones are the all ali/steel ones there was a review in i think last months tsf that the one i use no cheap plastic cr@p on them

    ian golds are a total waste of cash

          Bought one off eBay from Rods and Sods. All aluminium and never blown over. Only cost £29 as well!

              only one prob are they plastic thumb screws for the cups and rests ??? if they are and if you can change them to metal wingnuts saves any probs in the future

                veals tripods good as well metal rod holders placky cups but you can buy them all metal,a lot better than golds.
                i had to laugh when my mates new ian golds got blew off whitehaven pier,best end to it.there wasnt even a rod on it.

                  these tripods dont blow over

                  only if you have them buried 3 feet down in the sand
                  with the leg locks on(what are made of plastic)

                      They\'re metal phil - closest thing to plastic on them is the thick foam on the heads (about 4 times thicker than that on the veals ones).

                        aye mike the foam lining the cups didnt last long but its still been a good tripod

                          My last one was a Veals telescopic - everything snapped on it and it was that light that it kept blowing over. Wasn\'t impressed. Saying that it did last me 4 years!
