Want to upgrade rod for christmas. Using penn viper at the moment was thinking about apollo. Don\'t really want to spend more than £200 but might stretch to more. Just got chance of second hand WR300 for £160. Looks in good nick. What would advice be?

The WR300 is a great rod for rock fishing - easy to cast, shows bites, tip is stable in strong wind and it has plenty of backbone. Not an all round rod like the Kompressor Sport, but as I said before it is a great rock rod. I upgraded from a Penn PPT Groundcast and I find it far more user friendly.

I found it good to cast with but didn\'t really rate it on the rocks I now have a nemesis premier a ron thompson accelerator and a mk 1 apollo all of which I find handle the rough ground a lot better personaly I think you be better off saving your money by hunting around for a mk1 apollo you can pick them up for about 100 - 140 quid saving your self a bit of money I wouldn\'t advise getting a mk2 apollo as a mate of mines had nowt but bother with his .

Thanks lads. Took it out today to try a bit of casting. Was given a nemesis plus to try as well. Nemesis much lighter and not as stiff less effort but seemed to cast further and much more accurately with Century. If money was no obstacle might try nemesis a bit longer but think it would be £140 more so no contest really. After all I\'m not going to be casting every 2 minutes.

Cheers Tack4. PM\'d him but may have to decide tomorrow. Century seems like a nice rod. Don\'t know much about stronger rods but it seems a good place to start.

could do worse than getting an IMAX 5 STROKE 6
I bought one a few weeks ago and absolutley love it, very light, Fantastic caster, & pretty stiff , and only £150
I have always used Century but in all honesty if i was offered any Century rod or an Imax i would choose the Imax.
