    having just been given a load of the fisherman's handbook i have come a cross couple of interest bits 1st pic i am sure i have fished close this place before can any one tell me where it is

    second pic shows a pic of a guy called roy cook csting with a contraption which an cast 140 yds and a cast a 11oz lead and 3 big cod baits a 120 yds. it does not bive a date when it was done , but i think it was before leslie moncreif,s fibre tube come on the sceme, wonder if anyone has seen this type of casting in action

    I had this handbook when I was a kid. I recognised the pictures straight away. I'm fairly sure the pic is up the west coast of Scotland but not 100%.

              Sure the bloke with the rod was down Norfolk way ,remember seeing that article many years ago.

                  ive got the same book mate!!
                  got it off my dad for chrimbo after he won it in a raffle!!
                  my book was printed in 1986 but has some great infomation on all aspects and types of fishing if some of the fashions are abit funny now!!!

                      Definitely right there,looks like the 1960,s when you could dig a bucket of blacks in 20 mins and wonder how many cod you were going to catch,never a blank in those days.Note all the lads in oilskins no warm floatys in them days (if only there were any cod left now on the Clyde)

                        so it is on the clyde, would i be right in saying its just about next to weymms bay not far off the red rocksj

                          That is the Red Rocks south of Weyms Bay, I am sure there was a oil terminal there.

                            cheers mate memory a bit hazy a cousin took me there it was a long time ago ,all i can remember is parking on a private road climbing over a wall, placing a scaffolding plank across some smooth red rocks and fished off a little jetty where the water was crystal clear and a canny memorable day it was with a fair few fish up to 3lb in middle of summer on vatious baits
