I am making my rig bodies and snoods out of 40 pound amnesia and they will snap before the Trilene if I get it in a forty and at this strength its still thinner than 30 pound sensor.
40lb, in my opinion, is a bit too light for rig bodies mate. The rig body is the first thing that gets rubbed against rocks etc and needs to be able to withstand that AND haul a fish out. I personally use 60lb bodies unless it\'s for a pulley rig and then I up the body to 100lb, along with using larger and stronger swivels.
I use a grinner knot with three turns at both stages. This holds fine and has never slipped. Just to make sure that it doesn\'t come undone even if it does slip I use a lighter the burn a blob in the tag end of the line. A pair of pliers is essential for tightening.
berkley have had the efta test done on all there line that is why it has a weird breaking strian of say 38.4lb the old 50lb used to snap at about 75lb.the big game lads used to love for that reason.
