Fixed spool

Any1 recommend a fixed spool for all round use like piers, beach, rocks. Got a multiplyer but finding it a bit hard atm in tricky conditions. so wanting a fixed spool until I get fully used to multiplyer

Av just got a penn surf blaster about £80 brand new eBay comes with two spools 1 for braid 1 for mono lovlie reels mate

Grauvelle z5000 good reel, winches fish in well, line lay is spot on comes with 3 spools can't fault mine

You're not going to get used to a multiplier by going to a fixed spool; persevere with it. Don't practice with it by going fishing; get yourself down to a pier; jetty, beach or something and keep casting with it with the spool tensioner up quite tight. Ease it off a little at a time until you can cast without getting any overruns.
Remember though that the first part of the cast; when you are loading up the rod, has to be a smooth as possible; try not to jerk into the cast. jerking is what accelerates the spool into giving more line than the sinker is taking, resulting in loops of line building up on the reel eventually causing the dreaded birds nest.
Keep at it; it'll be worth it in the end when you get it sussed.

A shimano or i use a Penn affinity lc with 15lb ultima line with 60l shock leader casts like a dream and there is a spare spool for braid can't speak highly enough of these animals

It's not the cast realy, can do it ok with the brakes bout half way. It's more retrieve (cos got no level wind) spec in dark wind n rain. Guna keep useing 525 in good conditions to get used to it but just want a fixed spool for the other times I don't hav to think wen useing them

I've used multipliers since I was a lad and just recently went back to a fixed spool and braid and I love it. I can easily reach the distance I get with a multiplier and mono. Have a look on eBay for a shimano aerlex gt8000 or biomaster these will see you ok. If you've got the money to go higher spec even better but the two mentioned will do just fine mate.

I use a multi and fixed spool, its good to have reassurance that you can fish on if you nest, nothing worse than spending an hour picking a nest, you went fishing not nesting.

Shimano Aerlex XS 8000 has last me 2 years 3 months and still going strong, brilliant reels.

I have two Shimano Aerlex 7000 reels not had them long but I like them. I had two Daiwa Emcast before that but they both broke after about two years so I wouldn't recommend them. The Shimano is much better built (stronger) and looks like it will last for years. The 6000/7000/8000 are all the same reel just with different size spools so if you are a big caster get the 8000 but if you don't need a ton of line on get a smaller size one.
