NESA FUNDRAISING FOR THE RNLI: Perspective

Just to put some costs into perspective, I\'ve been doing some sums:

In only a few short years, NESA has raised £7,035 for the RNLI.
That figure is fantastic on its\' own, but when you understand just what that money is enough to provide, it\'s a STAGGERING amount.

To kit out each member of a lifeboat crew costs £440.

The largest of the RNLI boats is the Severn class (Tynemouth has a Severn class boat) and it has 6 crew. The money NESA has raised is enough to kit out the crew of TWO AND A HALF Severn class boats.......that\'s 2.5 lifeboat stations

The Atlantic 75 boats have a crew of 3. The money NESA has raised is enough to kit out the crew of over 5 Atlantic 75s......that\'s over 5 lifeboat stations

TC is there a date for anymore future nesa comps ?

Andy there will be a boat comp probably in May which supports the RNLI. I will organise a summer comp probably in July. Then again there is the big one in February when the South absolutely stuff the North.

ha ha tee hee good soh Jim lol. I think south will prevail when comp is fished south of Tyne but then.....north will kick southern ass in a general direction (it is normal history) and you hav to deal with it and seek help to get over it. I know a good shrink if you need the number but they charge £92 for one hour but you never go to jail.

PS. its a good feeling to be part of nesa and help RNLI. Sometimes I wonder why\" lives\" have to depend on charity if they need to be \"saved\". What would we do without then? I stand up and applaud the men and women who give up their time to be there for anyone who may need them

Sorry about not replying, but Jim just about summed everything up:-

We hold an annual boat fisshing comp on the Bank Holiday Monday at the end of May. This includes both CHARTER boats and Private boats.
We can usually find places for everyone wanting to take part either on a charter boat or on one of the private boats. (The private boats are those owned by fellow NESA members).
The proceeds from the Annual Boat Comps go to a N.E. based RNLI Station which has already been previously decided upon. Previous years have seen us raise £2000 for Amble, £1200 for Cullercoats and £1500 for Sunderland Stations.

The Winter Shore comps take place in November and Jim has organised the past 2 events. Going in chronological order these events have raised £700, £1000 and £544.

The money raised from the Winter Shore Comps go to to the RNLI Nationally and prior to the comps themselves, I run an on-line auction to help boost the amount handed over to the RNLI.
One of the lads on the site (IanW) runs a footie card where he works and he and his workmates have donated litterally hundreds of pounds which gets added to the cheque we hand over to the RNLI.

The Summer shore comp is a new thing which Jim started just this year - keep your eyes peeled for when he\'s arranging next years comp.

February 2006 sees the 1st of another Annual Shore Comp.
This one involves NO fundraising whatsoever.....lol....it\'s all about FRIENDLY rivalry. THe Tyne Challenge Trophy Comp will see a team of NESAanglers from the North of the Tyne take on a team of NESA anglers from the South side. Winning team captain will retain the trophy for a year and then will have to defend it the following year.
So far we have two equally matched teams (both have 35 team members). Hopefully the event wil continue to run for many years - with the main \"prize\" being the \"beating\" of the other side....lol
