  • Excellent Service!!!

My lad, Adam, as some of you will have read \'\'rod or reel for £100\'\' ended up deciding on a Ron Thompson aXcellerator, so I browsed a few sites and found one on Veals Mail Order for £99. Tuesday morning I ordered it on-line and it said 2-3 wotking days delivery. I had it sent to my office as I thought the postie might struggle getting it through the letterbox!!!.
Wednesday afternoon, 2pm, in a man walks with a rather large cardboard box and, yes, it was the Ron Thompson!.
When I took the rod out to have a look they had included a pair of metal coasters. Now Adam being Adam likes things right so I rang Veals and asked if I could post the coasters back to them and replace with a sliding reel seat and I would pay the difference in the price. No problem the girl said, NO CHARGE. Thursday morning in walks postie with a large envelope, yes you guessed it, 1 new Penn reel seat, F.O.C.
Now you must admit that takes some beating.
The rod looks good and feels well but one criticism, the bag provided, imprinted with the aXcellerator name, is made so small that it was a pig of a job to get the tip section out.

Hi mate i own the 13\'6\" model and i can\'t fault it.there\'s an old saying \"you only get what you pay for\" i think there wrong with this one, cheap and awesome.Your right about the rod bag it is a bit shabby, but what do you want for a £100 a free 525 Re-Penn.
    Cheers Alan...

I can\'t fault Veals. I use them for all my major purchases and have never had a problem with them. I once baught a penn 525 which had a knackered drag. Within 2 days I had a replacement. Now thats service!

It has been said before and I try to support local shops who all do a job for you at the last minute but Veals do an excellent service and I use them for odds and ends especially the Varivas Big MOuths which I think are excellent value for money.

Thats right Peter about local dealers we must try and support them, but at the end of the day you got to think about the money you are/might be saving by going to a mail order shop.(you got to take into account postage costs as well when making a purchase,Anglers Corner and Harris are free post and maybe there\'s more out there but i have\'nt seen many)
I use my local shop in Blyth and there\'s only one so\'i\'ll not need to plug him and its nice to get some advice off the lad that works there (Brian) something you\'ll never get off a mail order dealer.
Hope i\'am not drifting Fishydad from your original post which was a goodun.
              Cheers Alan...

Cheers lads and Alan I agree about using local shops, if possible. I live in Bishop Auckland and there\'s only 1 shop which does tackle but only in small quantities and only cheap stuff. I like North East Tackle at Hartlepool and my other son just recently bought a Greys PTZ 300 and Abu 6500 for just under£400!!! but for ease and to save trekking over to Hartlepool some of the Internet / mail order sites are spot on, Veals and Gerrys have been brill.
