  • Strange species. Help needed?

My mate caught a strange fish we can't identify, this afternoon off roker pier. We asked a few lads if they knew what it was.

Here is the photo of the fella not the best, it wouldn't stay still. If anyone could identify it would be great. All I can say is it had an eel type tail, it had quite a large head for the size of fish and it had feeler on the bottem of its head like a catfish.

    Cheers again lads

I got one a couple of weeks back. It's in the species hunt thread, again from roker. Did you get a look at it's toothy grin? They're not that common at all, only one caught last year in the 2012 species hunt. maybe it's a hotspot for them there, if it isn't the same fish! well done mate

Cheers lumpsucker, like I said it was my mates catch, but I'll show him your post as he is not on here. It probablies was the same fish, we asked quite a few people but no one knew what it was. I'll check out your species hunt photos. Cheers again lads.
