  • Does everyone use a shock leader ?

Down here in south wales I prefer to fish with a heavier line straight through. I currently use a sensor but its a bit thick at 30 pound, tends to pick up te tide a bit, as they run fast down here due to shallow water.

I have tried all sorts of shockleader knots but I find the snaggy ground snaps the line at the weakest point, usually the leader knot, therefore u lose everything, hence looking for the perfect match between a strong line and not too thick a diameter, I am happy enough to cut off ten yards every trip rather than arse about with a shockleader which often you wave goodbye to anyway as soon as snags, I am going to try some of the cheaper nylon at £2.50 for a spool it can be changed every 4 trips

I stopped using a leader, just use 30lb s.t now, used to get sick of catching weed on the knot. I have never had a problem using 30lb s.f but would not use a lighter line such as 15lb s.f are you might end up with a lead in the head lol
