  • ssp first gate whens best to fish

    was thinking of fishing the pier at the bottom near the brgade hut or first gate
    what is the best sea conditions to fish it ie south easterly or north easterly and what state of tide thanks jeff

    3 hours up and over high water, the bigger the sea the better. fishes when most other marks are unfishable.

      Tony is it out of the tidal pull on the river. I assume it is as its not as far out unlike the Walkway.

        yes its out of the main tide race, fishes best when theres a swell running into the mouth of the river. If theres a strong south/ south easterly wind blowing and its unfishable on the coast then you can shelter behind the Brigade hut. I prefer the hole in the wall further up the pier and just shelter from the wind behind the wall and keep the tripod low as possible and weighted down.

          thier has already been fish up to 8lb from thier last year when the sea was away a big easterly or n/easterly does the job with abig tide so you get some of the rip off the tide very underated you are drawn to the end and the fish are just out your car

                last night 6 till 10 couldnt get moved and big stuff came in just after 8
