  • Bait stops

Planning to start building my own rigs but possibly a daft question. Where do you get those little tiny rubber bait stops from which are on some commercial rigs ? They are like a tiny black rubber bead which often has a sequin below it to stop bait sliding up the line.

    Tackle shop

    On a more serious note...

Tronix, sakuma and most other terminal tackle companies sell them

Or use low dia silicon tube thrwad through then back again and pull tight to form a sliding rubber stop

Just use a crimp and a 8 ml bead.

Here is a link below to those silicon bits what Lambengland has recomended, I use them and they are very good and much cheaper than those other stops.

I wouldnt use a crimp on a snood. Asking to loose a fish IMO. Silicone tude is your best bet

theres nothing wrong with using a crimp and a few luminous beads after the bait, works great for picking the whiting out when its a rather slow night, just my opinion.

Think Steve Bell is on about not using a crimp as it will weaken the line, which
could result in losing a good fish.

I tie a length of of line on stop knot style but leave a long tag end and secure it to your bait with elastic. Works for me even when giving it big licks.

I just use the neice/nephews sequins out there colouring boxes ect, and put a crimp above it to stop it moving

A stop knot wont damage of weaken the hook line it just keeps the sequin in place

Agree, would not use a crimp on snood, use stop knot and sequin. Cheaper too.

Aluminium crimps would not damage the snood and will stop the bait moving up the line, I have used them for years.
