did any one see last nights chronicle there was a pic of what is thought to be a sharl in the tyne. swimingamongst the boats at south shields boat club?
Seen the photo in the \"Metro\" paper thismorning.......
Definitely looks like a porpoise to me.......and as for \"12 to 13ft long\".........hahahaha.
\"You don\'t get porpoises that far up the river\" ??????
Last time I was out on the JFK we were watching one in the river as we pulled alongside the North quay to pick up the rest of our party and when we set off again, it started to follow the boat for a little while before disaprearing.
I haven\'t seen the story, but there was a story a few years ago of a porpoise in the tidal stretch of the River Ouse at Cawood near Selby, probably 40 or more miles from the open sea. Further up stream than South Shields.
Plus, I seem to recall a barbel angler friend of mine complaining about a seal a long way up stream.
Had one in front onf the boat last year running out of Blyth.........pity I never had the camera....it was a great sight......also the reason we drew a blank.....don\'t find many fish around one of those..
