Chaps, I have an old slosh 30. Used it a couple of times now and it seemed to run too fast for me so I opened it up and it has no centrifuge at all and no brake drum. Is this right? I've put red Rf oil in the bearings anyway to slow it up but has anyone had one of these?
That's what I was intending to do when I opened it up, thought the previous owner might have took the original blocks out, but there's no brake assembly at all! I thought it should have had centrifugal brakes in like most do but I'm starting to think it's an ancient model with no brakes at all, other than tightening the spindle bearings or using thicker oil.
Here's some more pics anyway if it helps anyone:
You could fish with it old-skool style - thicker oil & an educated thumb Maybe more practical to look into having it magged up which would give you a range of control. I know there are ways of doing it which enable you to keep the ratchet, which I'd recommend (check out Blakdog Tackle).
Well, that clears that up then! Cheers lads. I've checked out blackdog tackle and might enquire about getting it magged if I can't tame it with thicker oil.
