you have more chance of seeing a one leged man winning an arse kicking contest than seeing a double figure bass up here , i have fished all my life and the best bass i have caught is 4 pound , never targeted them , caught by lady luck ,never seen or heard any doublers in the nets either , but there is definetly more getting caught each year

Personally I dont think it will be long before one gets caught, especially as they dont tend to get targeted that much. I remember Gazzawill getting one of nine pound or so a couple of years ago and I would suspect many others have been caught and kept hush hush.
As has been said there has been a big increase in bass off the north east in the last few years and mummy and daddy have to be around somewhere.

I'm sure someone caught one of 11lbs South Shields beach a few years ago, and I'm convinced there are double figure bass around our coastline. Every year more and more appear. Whilst most are much smaller, they are easier to find as smaller fish tend to shoal. However much larger bass are more solitary, but personally, I think it is only a matter of time before someone hooks and lands one.
Don't forget not everyone reports their catches, whether they are members on here or not, so I bet a few more have been caught already.

I witnessed one of 4 to 5 pounds being caught a few weeks ago. I cant say where as the guy wanted to keep it quiet.

Lots of big bass caught Scarborough way this year on lures. Biggest 12lb. Just think not too many anglers target them

Yeah must have bene over 8 years ago that one got caught their... North side of the big beach, but the odd one mooching around. Never seen many brought in on the quay, just odd ones 6-7lb.

Southerners seem to have it easier :P haha

                          bass

im sure if some of the small inshore boats targeted them with live sandeel it would throw up some bigguns.

there was a guddin on steetly a few years back too.

shame the piers nearly gone used to be more good fish on there than anywhere.
and a lot of them were dropped off ha ha

Tried looking for the post but it's like looking for a needle in a haystack
I can recall I had a conversation with charlton about the quality of the pic and he was explaining why it wasn't good enough for publication, something like that anyways
