  • Bass/pollock

    Hi

im looking at targeting bass or pollock this year any advice on rigs or tips/marks.
ive been told dunstenbourgh castle is a good mark for pollock lure or float?
this will be the first time targeting these fish and any help will be much appicieated.
its always better to get advice from people who have experience in fishing for these species rather than reading or watching videos.
    thanks in advance

Both lures and a float fished sandeel will both work for pollock at Dunstanburgh. The best pollock marks have deep water and a bit of current flowing past.

Hi Clarkie, I’m by no means vastly experienced in either pollock or bass fishing but I’ve either seen for myself or heard of bass being caught from beaches such as Embleton, Alnmouth, Druridge Bay, Cambois and Blyth. Sandeels or ragworm are good baits and lures such as surface poppers, divers or soft plastics will all catch bass. You don’t need to cast too far either as bass will often come close to the shoreline to feed. Dawn and dusk are probably the more productive times to fish for them.

Dunstanburgh Castle and Craster area can produce some decent pollock by spinning sandeels and both hard and soft lures. Lug, squid, rag, bluey etc etc will all catch pollock and coalies.

      Good luck and tightlines! 🎣

        bass

don't forget its illegal to target and keep bass in 2018 if you catch them they must be retuned
old anglers never die -they just smell that way
