There lifetime warranty has always been a very grey area.

If you have a warranty that clearly states lifetime warranty then they are obligated to replace your tip.
If people think you are an idiot, why speak and remove all doubt !

I hope this isn't the case.
I have four greys rods where the lifetime guarantee was the deciding factor.
I still have them even though I don't use them much, as they are worth keeping with their guarantee.
The fact they would even try this has put me right off buying anything Greys again.

That's was one of the reasons I got it. Thinking it was good to have a warranty just incase.

Read this mate and when you phone back tell them you've spoke to your local trading standards department

good luck but a warranty isnt always what you think, do you have documentation that specificaly says you will get a new rod under your circumstances?
usualy an 'alternative may be offered' is the get out clause and your alternative is an offer of a new one at a reduced price therefor fullfiling their obligation perfectly legaly.
i bought a car with a full warranty and the head was gone when i bought it, no money back or anything. just an offer to pay half the cost of replacement by his engineer which was going to be 1000's on a £1500 car and more money in his pocket.
trading standards were brought in and i didnt have a leg to stand on as he was 'appearing' to help me which was blatantly just a scam to drag me deeper into his pocket.
i had to walk away and cut my losses.
ring trading standards and they will advise you of where you stand. the only advice i got was to keep at it but i got nowhere what so ever.
your best bet is to tell em your an active member of a huge forum and its in their interest to keep you happy as their risking future custom if you were make public your experience and hope for the best mate

Also as above mention the fact that your a member of various fishing forums and it would sound so much better for Grey's if you wrote a happy ending and a thank you to say they sorted you a replacement rod under guarantee.

Not a 100 per cent sure about the warranty you have but in most highstreet shops,if they cannot provide you with an exact replacement you are entitled to a full refund, but do speak to trading standards first, they may persue this on your behalf.Do make sure you have all the relevant papwork..ie receipts, warranty etc...

Had a look on their site here and it looks like they comply with the agreement when rods are discontinued and they no longer have them.

Bit of advice, don't buy rods made in China, regardless of whos name is on it.
