Well guys my step son is pestering me to take him night fishing on the huegh but i aint to keen on the idea at all was goin to take him for a few trips to the named pier but only upto the gate and let him float fish until he gets used to casting with a rod twice his size has any one else tried float fishing this time of year for cod and what where the results any feedback would be very helpful

Thanks for that i must of missed this post very interesting see i didnt want my son climbin the gate never mind at night with it being very heavy ground near the gate my thoughts where pretty much the same in the link you have put up

i woulnt try floatfishing on there this time of year.
it really is quite easy to get on there.
why not cast out for him?
if you fish the clean ground on the end he will get some good sized whiting most casts. just use small baits on hooks no bigger than a 1/0.

Its easy enough for us adults but....he is a very small9 year old he has had past experiance with makky trout and carp just trying to think oc other ways to keep him interested but i guess il never know until i take him
