              • I know it can be hard to tell coalfish and Pollack apart especially when juvenile but the protruding lower jaw and lateral lines are the signs, as well as the big eyes. Couple of pics I took last year with a coalfish amongst Pollack might make it easier to tell when they're side by side.

                  The D shape on the lateral line is a giveaway.
                  Looks a good size if your card is A4.

                    Just because a flattie has orange spots doesn't make it a Plaice. I've caught hundreds of Dab and Flounder with orange spots as well as a fair few Plaice where the orange spots were very faint...

                          Yeah the weather was terrible most of last week - strong southerlies making Chesil unfishable at times but I managed a few off Weymouth Pier which was not as bad as Chesil. I am in Cornwall now and the weather is great for a spot of lure fishing

                                species 2013 - codling, whiting, dab, lesser spotted dogfish, spurdog, flounder, shore rockling, 5bd rockling, long spined sea scorpion, ballan wrasse, pollock, coalfish .......



                                species hunt to date......... Mackerel, Codling, Whiting, Pouting, LS Sea Scorpion, Shore Rockling, Sprat, Dab, Flounder, Bass, 5 bd Rockling, 3 bd Rockling, Turbot, Eelpout, Pollock, Lesser Weever, Plaice, Lesser Spotted Dogfish, Spurdog, Ballan Wrasse, Coalfish.......TBC!!
