Wee Ver they look like two long spined sea scorpions to me but I am happy to be corrected if anyone else can comment.

Well done Mike, Weymouth pier is a cracking venue for species hunting. I'm surprised you haven't had a lot more "mini" species to be honest, is the weather as cack down there as it is up home at the moment?
As for the Bullheads, agree they are both Long Spined. I've had a few and have been desperate to try to id one as a Short Spined but no joy so far...

martin i said the 3 ways to tell are, pertruding bottom jaw, lateral line and the prodominent v in the tail,
laterel line is the clear feature tho
