  • Winters coming

Apart from the obvious of catching a big cod or big bag of codling, what is the one thing that you all experience to make you realise that the winter season is here.

Things like yellow iodine stained fingers, numb fingers etc etc.

Mine is when you\'ve got in the house, had a bath/shower, you sit there with a warm glow in your face as you thaw out fully

Being made to completely undress in a freezing cold garage, (I\'m not a\"big\" lad to start with) and put stinking gear in the already prepared washing machine before being allowed into the house to shower......

Backfired on her last year though...I walked into the house from the garage absolutely starkers , (and shriveled) only to be greeted by my mother-in-law. She just pointed and said \"no wonder my daughter never smiles fatboy\"....

The bowl of steaming hot home made broth waiting when I get in.

                    \".....what is the one thing........\"

Ooooh.......difficult to chose just 1, Davy.

I suppose it\'s the WHOLE experience of winter fishing throughout the night - right from the driving home from work in the dark (at 4:00pm) full of anticipation of that big catch after having bought your bait on the way home, all the way through to the de-frosting of your face, as you\'ve described.

........Oh and the bacon & eggs accompanied by a pint of John Smiths when you get back in at 5:00am

Just the dark night\'s for me. As soon as they start I know it\'s time to fish.

                        P.S.
I started to charge up my batteries last week lol.
