  • Whitley Bay Beach

Fished Whitley bay beach last night/this morning. I got snagged first cast, and lost my leader when I tried to pull it free . Re-rigged for my second cast and managed to pull in my previous leader, trace, weight and bait(intact) with a 1 and a half pound codling to boot
Lost another leader later on but managed to retrieve it again no codling this time though. Finished off with a 5llb 10oz cod - was well pleased

        Tich,
I caught it at Panama about an hour up on the flood. My favourite mark, as it is literally at the end of my street. The bait was giant lug tipped with a mussel - cast about 100 yds out.
I lose a lot of leads there, due to the weed and rocks, so it was a pleasant change to get some back.

Bloody hell its about 400 yards nearer than me, and where we fished tonight (Ilive just up from Featonbys) I usually just lob it about 40/50 yards with the actual panama dip to my back.best time I found is about an hour down then 2 up,the beach is to flat after that, you need a 150 yd cast to do any justice to the area after 2hours into the flood thanks 4 the info Ill have to belt it out a bit further next time Cheers P,P will have to have a pint sometimemy locals the Kittiwake

            Tich,
I was in the Kittiwake last saturday night - had a nice pint or three of Director\'s :P, followed by a sheesh kebab (I wonder if that would make good bait?), then went home to tie some rigs before going fishing at 2am.
Stop for a chat next time you see me down on the beach. I usually fish at least twice a week (evenings/early mornings) on the low tide. I wear a red jacket, and have an blue cool box for my gear (maybe santa will bring me a decent tackle box for Xmas ).

hi patrick,i am also from W/bay and fish the panama alot, but 100 yards out?? Not that if i wanted to i could chuck that far with a big bait,(coz i cant!)but most of my fish from here are no more than 30-40 yards out (in the dip).
I had 4 from big bay that night, but was pestered with small coalies.

Sounds like you lads could form your own little fishing group

Reading posts like those above, really does make me glad. How the Board can bring together anglers who fish the same areas but have never, previously, been known to each other IS brilliant - and largely, what the site is all about.

I\'m off to bed a happy man (errmm, for some reason that doesn\'t look right when it\'s written down.......lol)
