  • the rathouse sunderland disgrace ????

went down sunday morning as we new roker pier would be closed due to the carry on on saturday
only to find that the rathouse has been fenced off half way so you cant get on the endi think this is an absolute joke and waste of good money dont no if it is the council or the marina
surely the money spent on the new fencing could of been used to make the old fencing secure and therefore safer for anglers instead of closing another fishing area
    wots your thoughts boys ????????
plus there was a family who came down to throw some flowers in the sea as a mark of respect but could not throw them where they wanted to and were very upset

Everywhere will be fenced off or out of bounds before long, and it's
not the port authority,or council,or boating clubs,or residents associations
to blame,it's the berks who are prepared to risk their lives,on the most
dangerous marks,in treacherous conditions, just to be out fishing. If people
cannot be trusted to be sensible enough to know when the condition of a
mark,or the weather, tides etc mean you should fish somewhere safe,or not
bother, then the decision will be taken out of their hands,as it isn't just
their lives they risk, they still have to be rescued if they get injured or into
other difficulties, regardless of how thick they are,for being where they are
    in the first place.

Fence was up last weekend, well i say up, it was hanging to one side with 7 fisherman on the other side of it

I said in one other post, wait until some fisherman puts a claim in and bang loads will be shut down by the ports etc

If your talking about the fencing on the end of the pilot house it's there because the blocks near the end are collapsed, it's not safe. The council should get the fkr fixed while it's still standing.

The ends a great mark in easterlies, one of my favourite shots, as is the ramp.

ABSOLUTLEY CORRECT, you don't have to put your hand in the fire to know it's hot......... it does not take a deal of sense to see a place is dangerous due to present conditions, talks are ongoing with council and port athorities in a attempt to gain more access to marks currently not accessible, these talks have little or no chance of success thanks to the selfish and iresponsible actions of a small minority.

its the founds on the end thats not very good and were moaning that we are loosing fishing grounds when muppets fish the pier in massive seas and get hurt yes the gate was open but commen sense is needed still you wouldnt fish certain marks in big seas were there is no gate but you know its dangerous all accidents and deaths that happen to fishermen is caused by fisherman doing silly things as sad as the injurys and deaths are they put them selves in dangerous places

the reson its been fenced off is ... there is nothing holding the end of the old north pier up theres nothing underneath it its hollow and no one knows when its going to collaps but it would be far to expensive to fix that problem so instead the council went with the cheaper option to compleatly fence it off.

its the fence been like that for a couple o years now, folk stil go and fish it,and im in disagreement they just shut everywhere instead of mending places it boils my **** to be honest, the roads for instance are the most dangerous places anywhere but theres still plenty idiots on them they dont fence them off, lifes a risk on allsorts just cos a few berks are thick doesnt mean everyone else should suffer, get these historic landmarks repaired is what i say instead of making stupid ugly statues and fountains and oh pulling down perfectly goodwell made homes then saying thers a housing shortageok rant over
did eeerrrr ya snap it off like?thats a shame teeeheeeeheeeheeee and take your rubbish home and dont be a meth

well if it is collapsing fair enough fencing it off but surely it could be fixed ast a cost and i agree 100% about the lads on the pier on saterday a bit common sense tells you not to go on even though it hadnt been closed

The problem is you have casual anglers who will just go down cos its a nice day. Its a part time hobby with them. To call them is totally unfair. To me, the blame should be attached to whoever gave the go ahead to open the gate. It could easily have been someone pushing a pushchair hit by that wave - would you call them?
