I dont want it posted on the site, thats why I asked for a pm. I want to know so I dont take any of my gear to that shop. I would give Ell the same advise everyone else will give him. Talk to the CAB first.
As I have grown older, I've learned that pleasing everyone is impossible,
but P*****g everyone off is a piece of cake.

not sure how \"I went into shop XXX, left a reel, etc etc, went back (whether late or not) and they\'d flogged it\"

could be termed as derogatory, if its factual.

you could argue that anyone who sees positive information regarding a shop, and then buys from them and gets a lesss than satisfactory service, has a case to say, that the post that lead them to that shop was in error and misleading also

Not getting into any arguments over this.

See the \"Ground Rules\" which have been posted since 2003:

        \"As far as the legal side goes;
        1. If it\'s a comment that\'s likely to cause financial loss or damage a reputation, then it\'s likely to get pulled. ie I WILL delete it!\"

Should it turn out that the shop was indeed LEGALLY wrong in its\' actions.......then I\'d be the 1st to post which shop it is.

However to find out if the shop acted illegally, then Ell will have to take matters further, himself.

not wanting to argue either but that does seem a complete contradiction

as even if they were completely barking in their actions and it was posted, this would invariably result in them losing out on business.

\" I went into shop XXX and they have a new policy of punching everyone in the gob\"

posting the above, if it were the situation would would comply on the 2nd bit AND result in the first bit.

mind you I know a couple of people who like that sort of thing

              Lol Mark, Aye - but....

In the real world, I\'m sure many of us have experienced \"company poilicy\" and not been too happy about it - even though that \"policy\" was perfectly legal.

As Grommit says, it all boils down to \"after a \'reasonable\' period has elapsed\".

What is a \"reasonable period\" to one person may well seem totally UN reasonable to another........and that is for the law to determine.

They had it for 3 months and could have contacted me via another regular if they needed to. If I\'d got a quote for the work before they started I wouldn\'t have let them loose on it.

Mind you 40 quid on a reel you can buy new for 60odd or so does seem pricey

Regarding the name and shame - I would have edited my post anyway but Tony beat me to it. I had the problem personally with them and although I\'ve brought it out into the open by posting here don\'t think it\'s right to name them, I shouldn\'t have done it in the first place. Take them as you find them. It\'s not somewhere I use regularly and will obviously never set foot in there again.

Of course the decision is yours, Ian.....but personally, I would contact the C.A.B or your local Trading Standards Office over this.

If the shop IS found to have acted unlawfully by selling your reel, then I\'d be the 1st to put their name up on here.

Conversely....if they were found NOT to have acted unlawfully, then I would also mention the name, saying so. Whilst they may not have broken any laws, their policy of disposing of \"uncollected property\" should be brought to peoples notice.

As for the comments on the cost I have experienced this myself with parts for the Daiwas. They charge a cost based on the full RRP which is still about £135 even though you can get them much cheaper now.
