prefer the 30h myself even for 15lb mono brilliant reel to cast, but the paintwork tends to mark easy and the clutch system on the first ones can be a prob ie the threads can strip on the star drag as many of us have found out.

best allround out there for me is the original penn 525 slidy mag does everything.

of course above is just my opion.
did you know panel pins comes in diff sizes ?

Lovely and smooth but the 525 is faster .
Mine is magged up and I find it abit slow.
My 525 supermag extra is much faster for casting.
But I would say it will pull anything in.
You just got to say do I want a fast casting reel with good retrieve or a reel that is not as fast but excellent pulling power.

I've got the 525 and the saltist 20 they are both great reels, lookn back at other comments, yes the saltist was slower but I just cleaned the bearings n put a thinner oil in like the yellow rocket oil now it's fast as hell, or you can go other way if a reels to fast n put thicker oil in, if your going for the saltist and you want it fast I'd put a mag conversion on then it's easier to control.
              Hope this helps, Bri

Oh forgot to mention if you get a mag kit don't get the general fishing mag if you want a fast reel as this is a strongish mag and quite slow go for the casting one as its a weaker magnet and better for distance, and if its a bit to fast use thicker oil as you can slow down a fast reel with weak mag but you'll be hard pushed to get much extra out of a reel with strong mags in
