                      Haha have to agree!

Someone told me it was 6lb though - so consensus seems to be 6-7 lbs is the cut-off point between codling and cod.

yes so is my dad , he worked a coble out of sunderland ,the silverspray, when i was a young lad ,i was out a lot with him , we had a salmon licence , worked nets and pots all hauled by hand ,allso something i guess know one will see again , was me old man working the long lines , of a board which attached to the gunnell of the coble , he would release these using 2 sticks about 18 inches long , to stop your hands getting fouled on the hooks , its something i will never forget , allso yucking for the big jumbo haddock quarter mile of ryhope, they disapeared in the 70s , happy days i could go on for ever

Why do we distinguish, don't seem to do it with other fish?

No Haddockling, Bassling, Saitheling, Pollockling, Lingling.
