Fished ssp the other day with wor kid who hardly ever fishes as works and lives abroad, anyway he was getting snagged up as not getting out far enough. He's using a 525 mag and orion so I asked for a chuck, got the reel set up better and gave it a whack and all I can say is that the reel is very good, smooth and fast retrieve. Also the 14ft rod suprised me, easy to load up and recovered well. So all in all a canny combo i thought. I tried to give it a good whack but the sinker just snapped off as it was just 30lb straight through (don't worry I made sure there was no one down stream when I hit it) so shocker required deffo. Anyway I just put the mags on a bit for him and bingo, 40yrds on his chuck. I blanked and he got 3, HA. Good rod and reel combo.

totally agree with you tony safety is paramount but years ago that is all we used to use and i,ve seen some big hitters ping a lead out and very rearly have a snap off plus it depends on the quality of the line you use infact the sylcast used to be 26lb and 28lb/30lb mind it was quite thick to the lines we use today do,nt think it is stretched or whatever they do with themRodbuilding & rod repairs
