buy a bulk spool of cheap 60lb line to use as shockleader and master the Bimini twist leader knot and this will be a strong as you can get (there are videos on you tube which will show you how)
next build your own rigs using the 60lb for the rig bodies and then using an amnesia 20lb hook length and this if snagged will go before the leader knot
secondly if on rough ground attach the lead using a pin and ball or a Canny link with a 15lb rotten bottom
problem solved no need for braid as if you get a birdnest its history

Thanks for the advice Sean (i'm a recent addition to this sea fishing malarky) I'm probably over complicating things by buying ready made rigs and tapered leader but the one thing I can't get my head around though is using weaker line for the lead as surely when casting, all the stress is at the weight so wouldn't this be at greater risk of cracking off?Cheers.

Hello Daysofspeed. You will need to see a detailed sketch of a rotten bottom set up before you attempt to use it. The lead weight is attached to your rig via a rotten bottom clip and is released on impact on the surface of the water. It is still attached to your rig with a 12 to 15lb line link.
Hope this helps.
