I think the idea of membership cards is good in theory but in practice it would be a nightmare to adminster and distribute them.

Say there was approx 600 members, to supply each of these with a card would cost a minimum of £300 (postage, envelope, materials for the card, etc) and that is before you take into account TC\'s time.

The system has to be run on trust, as it is with a lot of other clubs/organisations.

One other method that may be possible is an email. When you register with NESA you receive an email with your initial password on it. Would it be possible to add a section to this email with a section saying that the person named on it is a fully signed up member of NESA? All that person has to do then is bring the email in with some other sort of ID, like the credit or debit card they are hopefully going to use

DSont know if it is feasible but it\'s my twopenneth worth!!

One thing to remember, it is usually only the first two or three visits were you may get asked for some sort of proof as after that the staff tend to get to know you and dont even ask for any proof of membership

Easy way round this if the shop has their PC handy (like Billy\'s), ask the customer claiming the discount to log themselves into NESA. If they can then discount applies, if they can\'t no discount.
Also as Grommit says, once your face is known then end of the problem.

although for Frasers you just need to mention the site or my nickname and you\'ll be OK for discount

Brian\'s a canny lad and always gives a prize for comps when asked

Personally i think the card IS a good idea, and as bri says \"why not just send blanks out by e-mail tony to those who want one and they can add there own details/photo\" i think this will work even if the members that want one has to pay for them or make a donation towards them.

why not open an application page that is forwarded to either myself or the other 2 lads i would issue me own card which would show the member as a NESA member also. I intend to offer customes membership of Factory sport so we can mail them with specials etc

            cheers gary

Forwarding an application page would also breach data protection rules as private information is being forwarded to a third party. This could only work if people agreed to share the personal details with other parties which most people are wary of due to getting innundated with junk mail

Also, personally speaking, we would not have time to produce cards in the shop as we are on the go all the time and it wouldn\'t be fair on other customers to be kept waiting whilst we produced cards.

We have the PC on all the time in the shop so it would be easy to access a username but at the end of the day it has to be mutual trust between the shops and NESA members.

I really think we can knock this on the head now.......we\'ve looked at all the options and when all\'s said & done, it IS a matter of trust.
Maybe we\'ve been making something out of nothing. After all.....Billy\'s been giving discount to NESA members for years and I don\'t think he\'s had any problems.

All I can suggest is that if you\'re gonna be using an unfamiliar tackle shop - whereby you don\'t know the guys behind the counter and they don\'t know you.......do as Alan suggests and send them a PM to let them know you\'ll be coming. You can introduce yourself when you get there.

Tony it might be a good idea to \"Top\" and lock a post that states exactly which shops are willing to give discount to NESA members, this would would give the member the exact address and telephone number of each shop and would\'nt cause any confusion with members asking at the wrong shop by mistake
                  Cheers Alan...

In the dealer directory, I\'ve put a note against each of the tackle shops giving discount to NESA members saying.......well......just that....lol
