I have a zippo and a cheap chinese peacock copy. I have always had problems getting the Zippo to fire up. Filled both last weekend and the Zippo failed yet again before i left the house. Faffed on with it when i got back and eventually got it to work. lasted 8 - 10 hours like the cheap copy.
I would suggest caution over buying the Zippo and try the cheap ones first.

which ones Marco? the ones wavy davy posted? the fleece inside holds the fuel, there should be no liquid as such. id be guessing theres too much in if its coming out. ive filled mine twice the reccomended dose and i can turn it upside down without the burner and nowt comes out at all. on the plus side if it does leak ive got the added bonus of getting warm VERY quickly whilst doing my best dog impression.......woooof!

lol .aye those butterfly ones. copies from china,,,, it comes out of the lip/ edge where the fuel tank meets the burner holder . maybe i do overfill or its still wet from previous usage . that said the whitby warmer i fill to the neck and it doesnt leak , but it burns for 12 hours plus .i just got a JOE- E off ebay , its the american type and now that is a piece of kit , best ever !!

i paid £13 , it was unused , the standard size , i was hoping it was the giant , id gladly pay £18 mind . the burner is wrapped in a kinda steel mesh , nothing like the wool type, though the wool is probably inside it , its gets 2 times hotter aswell and has a slot for me to light me fags .
