  • To those who have fished Port Logan before

As some of you may know who have fished at Port Logan lately, the current Fish Pond lease holder is causing problems. She is claiming that the path heading south behind the Fish Pond heading to Mull Hill is private property. I for one have used it/walked past the pond for about 20 years without issue.

Dumfries and Galloway Council are collating data to have the path made a "right of way". They are after names and adresses of any anglers who have used it frequently over the years to back up their case.

I said that I would help out from the angling aspect so if anyone would like to help out could you please e-mail me your details and for how many years you have used the path and I will pass them on to the council. To those of you who are members of other fishing forums I would appreciate it if you could copy/paste this message onto them

    Details to snatcher1950@googlemail.com

    Thanks in advance

    John

Scotland have a right to roam policy, whereby you, basically have a right to roam,or a right of access, unless interfereing with crop growth or the access is limited by a protection order. SSi or such. but I think rights of way may be a thing of the past. I think England also have introduced this, whereby you can now use open access land, in the Lake district this is being used to guide people away from traditional rights of way footpaths in order to protect them, they actually advise not to use these traditional footpaths or rights of way, but to use differing routes over access land.

Thanks for the e-mails chaps. Have quite a few between NESA,WSF and Whitby forums wth more to come hopefully.

Research has been done and the footpath is clearly shown on OS maps dating back as far as 1850. Also if you check it on google earth you can see how well worn the path is indicating that it must have been used for hundreds of years.

          Cheers

This only affects the path that cuts behind the back of Logan Fish Pond heading towards Mull Hill. The new leaseholder has suddenly decided its a private path !!!!
