2nd day run off is the normal time to go, but the way it flattens off so soon these days i;d be out fishing everyday while its away tbh .

I fish the rivers while its huge then move on to the open shore when its starts to drop off. The wear will fish next week with these bigger tides IMO

Dont blame me if yous blank

If im fishing shore marks I wait at least a couple of tides after its dropped, usually loads of loose weed in the water otherwise.

As you have said mate even in the largest of swells there are usually still some sheltered spots, just a case of finding them.. I'm out tomorrow night but will have a quick drive up the coast 1st to find a spot. When the sea drops off i would probably then hit a beach like Whitley or Blyth.

It all depends on where u want to fish. Finding somewhere safe is the first thing, you dont want to be on exposed rockends with the sea crashing in. Secondly is finding somewhere that you can hold bottom, when its rough its virtually impossible on open beaches, thats why we wait till it calms a bit. When its really rough its best to find a sheltered spot, somewhere with a big skeer or offshore reef to take the sting out of the swell. Somewhere where food for the fish will get trapped. When it droppes off hit the pier ends or open beaches.
