The Akios 656 CTM has been getting rave reviews all over the web mate and have recently gone up in price because of that, I have 1 on santa's list so hope he see's me as being a good boy this year lol.
I have one and have to say its a canny piece of kit, casts really well and pulls the fish in. I only use it on clean ground dont think there built for heavy stuff.
Ive been useing the little shuttle and its lovely to cast, and fish the clean beaches never caught on it so cant say much there lol but really nice reels
they look the part and do cast well but my anti reverse bearing has went 3 times in a year and so has my mates they dont age well either mine is pitting all ready lved them at first but now i dont rate them still strugle over anything but clean ground
iv used the 651 mag model,, £110, and its fished all over Scotland in rough stuff smooth ground and the thing just gets smoother,,,tbe best multi iv owned for a long time,, I cant say enough good things about these reels,, everyone I know seems to be smitten with them,, field casters, ,,its about time someone shown as much interest in the quality of tackle,,,as the people who use the stuff.
Used my new 757 CTM for the 1st time in the RNLI comp on Sunday, and I've got to say I was pretty impressed. It 's the first time I've used a magged multi, so have nothing to directly compare it with, but by the end of the session it was out-casting my old blue yonder by quite a distance (simple OH thumps).
Surprised by how quickly I could ease off the brakes, with confidence that it wouldn't blow up. Nice looking piece of kit too, very similar to the old ABU. Also felt like there was some power there whilst winding in.
So first impressions were very favourable, if it lasts half as long as my ABU, I'll be over the moon.
I bought a 651 CSM (left hand level wind) last week and fished shields pier with it. I've just switched to using a multi and I didn't get a single birdie with it. Had the mag one click from off by the time I went home. Well pleased with it. Time will tell though. It feels very well made and I like the knurling on the screws and dials. Should be handy when taking it apart.
