fished the pilot pier last week me and m8 blanked[so did other guys fishing] the dreger was working in and out all day ,sometimes as close as 70 yards, could this have caused the fishing to be so poor?.......anyone who does not know the dredger is a large suction dredger about 800tons 65metres in length..
fish for 2014 whiting, codling, flattie, coalie, chub, perch,,trout,g rayling, seatrout, barbel roach and salmon .......let it go it will grow bigger

Every time they dredge the wear, theres a mark called the ledge that wont fish until it has filled back up with sand and sleck, so yes this could be the cause. Its probaably also brought up a lot of bait so there will be an abundance for them to feed on

Cant see how it would have no effect i wouldnt like it if some one came in to my house with a 65 meter 800 tonne hoover and started sucking every thing up lol

Im just speaking out of personal experience, but it definitely has a massive effect on the wear for a while after they dredge it

Its a nightmare when the dredger is out. I know from experience fishing the Wear. We once had a police compo and the dredger was working not far away at the Glass centre and it was el-blanko for loads of anglers.
