  • Headlamp battery chargers

This morning while charging my headlamp the battery charger burned out. It shorted out with quite a bang and tripped the circuit breaker for the sockets. This may be a one off as I have two others and have had no bother with them but I would advise you if you have one of these not to leave them unattended. Also try to use an an adaptor with a fuse in it, otherwise you are relying on the circuit breaker in your consumer unit/fusebox to break the circuit as there is no circuit protection in an unfused adaptor.
I am not trying to scaremonger in any way, just keep an eye on them when they are charging.

Here is a photo of the damage.

The pins don't fold out on this one but it is the two pin type that require a UK adaptor. There is no manufacturer on it. Just a generic Hong Kong psu that they use over there for most small electronic devices.
