Was down having a run along the seafront the other day and as I came past Browns bay there was a large skeer, almost island shaped on the right hand side of the bay before going around towards Cullercoats. Anyone know if this is a fishing mark? Looked like it would produce but not exactly sure how long you would get to fish off it.

Yes mate, North Crab Hill - you'll get about 2 or 2/12hrs of the ebb (if you wade on but be careful - suss out the way on in daylight) and about 1 1/2hrs of flood on the bigger tides. On the smallest of tides you probably won't get on at all, fishes better on bigger tides when you can get right up the end. Say 2 down 1 up to be on the safe side, it's easy to get cut off if you leave it too late but those who are familiar with the place will usually be wading on and off.
PS - don't fish it if there's a N sea on, a small or dying SE is best. Can produce in the summer when it's flat and the water is clear.

used to be my favourite mark had many a good session there would suggest you get yourself there during daylight and big tides and have a good look around, some nasty little holes that you can easily step in if you don't know where they are one that springs to mind is at the east end where there is a little hump you stand on to castAlan

Cheers Gary / Alan. Looks like a decent shot so will defo be having a wander into it next time I get chance. It will defo be in daylight though, don't like the idea of a flooding tide behind me that I can't see cutting off my escape route!!"In order to becomes old and wise, first you must be young and stupid."

Fished it a few times last winter , bit ropey wading on mind . My m8 John McQueen had me in bits half way across decided to slip and go for a swim only his box kept him a float ha , defo worth a look in the day time but once your on there is a nice flat surface , comfy fishing for the short spell on there . Drops off into deep water so be careful whilst casting one slip to close to the edge and you've had it , few fish close in in the kelp , runs right along the front of the mark . Wonder how it fishes in summer .

I it gets in the way don’t it 😂
I’m doing a lot of fishing atm, from Tynemouth to Cambois.
Fishing with a fella who knows a hell of a lot.
I’m green as grass on 99% of the marks he’s putting me on.
Some canny shots. Had nowt over 5lb yet.
But a load under.
Fairly local aswell from Gateshead. With no traffic I can be there in 30 mins. Coast rd route.
Quicker through tunnel obv.
Crab hill don’t appeal to me however. Don’t like any risks. Bit of a whimp really. 😁
