I see theres been a management shake-up and that the manager Frank Major (very anti-angling) has retired.
The Port Manager is now Harbour Master Ian Duncan. I hope that he\'s a bit more receptive towards the situation at Hendon and the South Pier.

Has anyone had any dealings with him?

Thats intresting, i never realized the head honcho was anti angling.

The situation couldn\'t get much worse than it is at the moment anyway, wether he likes fishing or not, so lets hope.

Would they let people on still due to the lack of railings? I thought we were banned because of thieves?

            Good news then eh

Alan, there was a big article in the Sunderland echo about the new signs. The chief of Police stated the fines and everything, giving the reason as to why anglers can\'t fish Hendon as its \'dangerous\'.....and there was a bloody big colour photo of 2 boys in blue walking along the said \'dangerous\' Hendon wall!!

I hope they got danger money for the pic!

Its all the South Dock Estate Ollie. Hendon wall, the tanks, the lane, Low Drum and the South pier - fined up to £5000 if you\'re caught trespassing on them.

So sad davy. I had some great days and nights on the wall years ago. Great spot.

                  Jim.

You\'re right Jim. I totally agree with Micky Quayle about the South Pier being the best venue on the North east coast, with Hendon being one of the best codling marks in the North east.

The fines still won\'t stop people though.

you\'re right davey i was prosecuted about 10 years ago for fishing on the low drum as i remember i was given an absolute discharge and court costs of £40 i still carried on fishing down hendon because it is one of the best codling marks in the north east i have\'nt fished there much lateley i\'m still mourning the loss of the high drum

could be an idea to look into the fact that it could be a public right of way if it has been used by the public for 20 years.
