  • Rod info!!

    hi lads!
was wanting some info on a 12ft 9 hardys mk3 tournament fibalite beach rod!
thanks to you lads on here a while ago for identifying it for me!
what i want to know is it any good for rough ground??
its still a good rod and ive used it loads of times since i got it and its
still a good rod ie casting bite detection ect!!
its a 6oz-9oz casting weight and feels very strong compared
    to my newer rods!
any help on this would be most helpful as theres virtually nowt
    online about this model!!
    cheers
    Russell

with the casting weight i would say yes dont know the rod so cant say if you have used it and its powerfull in the midd section and butt you can use them any rod can be used in heavy groung its only up north we go foe over killl you look down south they use what we call floppy sticks something like a anyfish anywere 6 and bait for congers and we use ttrs eliminators to carch 6 lb cod lol i know we have to bully fish but they have to keep tension at the end of the day mate you have used the rod as long as its not buckled with a 3 lb fish you can use it in my opinion just reel fast tip high

          cheers phill mate
aye it feels fine when retrieving in nice and solid too! you could pull the plug
out the ocean with its that solid even considering its 27yrs old nearly
aye we do go otc at times up here but know exactly what mean with down
south and floppy sticks 20lb mainline and 50lb shocker is the limit with most down there
          cheers again phill!

no problem mate good to see old rods my granda used to use a atlantic zoom with a wing nut to join the parts together i used to say beamish want it back lol but puts a lead out a cany way we class rods from the 90s as old but the late 70s and 80s have some great rods, i fished the bristol channel with my mate using a wr300 and 7 oz leads with the big tide pull he pulled out a zziplex primo syncho and 5 oz lead lol couldnt beleieve it then we fished another river mark local and we had some good fish around the 4 lb mark and he was lifting them over up a 12 ft wall like he says rods are desighned to bend

but as your rod is a hardys i would keep it to one side as the fly gear goes for crazy money and is only going up

cheers for the info matey by he way in regards to the wing nut fitting my hardy has a full metal reel seat that looks like summit out of the terminator
but i like it and will still use it cause thats what they were made for
i will say this though mind i feel a lot safer when i get into a snag or a lot of weed on the end with this as it just pulls away you dont get that horrible TING TING sound that i get with my other newer rods
