Hey guys i'm looking at buying a new multiplier reel. I will have about £130 to spend on one, the thing is I can't seem to make my mind up on one. I don't really fish many rock marks or snaggy ground I normally stick to the piers or the beaches. I was looking at the akios shutlle which is a bit over budget or the penn 525 mag are they okay to use as a beachcaster type reel. I like the fact they would double up as a rock mark reel if I felt adventurous lol. Is the smaller penn mag any good the 515 i think it is? any help from you experts would be appreciated. I forgot to add I prefer mag brakes as well just makes life easier cheers.

I'd go for the penn 525 mag USA model mate hold more line than the 515 so if you did venture out on the rocks you'd be fine I've had the newer 525 mag 2 but there poor there made in china and dont rate them at all I've got a 525 mag extra and I love it used it on piers beaches and rocks great all rounder don't know out about the akios hope this helps mate

As mentioned 525s are pretty hard to beat for their price... In my opinion the older usa made versions are best

If you werent too bothered about mag brakes id go for a penn fathom 15.. Lovely reels, the brake blocks are good enough to control the reel

Penn Fathom 15 looks very nice - I think if I had £130 or so to spend on a reel that'd be the one I'd get.

for beach and pier fishing i love my shuttle its a better 6500 casts for miles and mags so if the wind changes knock more mags on they have more guts than a 6500 but would only use mine on clean to mixed ground there solid reels but if you did want something with more guts as you mainly fish beaches a 515 is perfect but i found they cast great retreive great but they dont hold much line so you need a low diameter 15lb line the 525s are great allround reel but from a beach they give you no sport as you just lower your tip and which them in it all depends what you want it for hope this helps

There's only one reel for fishing clean ground mate and thats the blue elite, this reel is fantastic and I reckon will be okish on heavier ground just, providing yer not pulling a monst in like
