  • plum on roker pier

i was macky fishing today on roker pier, and this plum of a man was catching small coalies about 5 to 6oz, and he was keeping them he had at least 20, so i asked what he was doing with them ,he said for his cat so i asked what bait he was using ,rag worm £3.50 per pkt ,so why did he not just go and spend the £3.50 on catfood.............plum.

that really makes my **** boil m8 but this unfortunately happens this time of year its about time the fisheries deptarment started earning there cash and start taking walks up piers on a regular basis checking anglers bags for undersize fish the fines these trumpets would get would soon put a stop to it.

well said ray, if they thaught they would be hit for a £500 fine i think they,d think twice.
the fisheries people are more concerned with catching people looking for eater peelers [muppetts]

posted this earlier but it seems to have gone
You would prodably find these days if you phoned the fisheries, which i hope you will the next time, they will be there like a shot and his few coalies for cat food will be very expensive.

It was this time last year that \" We had the Second best discusion \" on the board (after Fox Hunting) when a NESA member defended His veiws on fishing for and keeping undersize coalies ,for pike bait- Does that make it right or wrong-

If you caught an undersized mackerel ,would you live bait it for a Big Bass or put it back

DISCUSS ( Sorry TC - I will drop you in a pack of Anadin Extra LOL

Lol Bri........I always have a family size pack of Anadin to hand, m8

Got no problems with having a similar discussion again.......

BUT........can you start it off in the main part of the Shore Fishing forum, rather than it being tucked away in the Catch Reports section.

remember that thread well and is what i thought of immediately after reading the start of this post,i abhor the keeping of undersized fish.
Alan as TC already mentioned, can you post the number for the fisheries,i will give them a call every time i go past torness.

Thought it would be easier moving the lot Tony, any objections and it can easily go back to \"Catch Reports\"
                          Cheers Alan...

You would have to phone your local DEFRA office
North Shields office is 0191 2574520

I belive that would also cover Roker Pier. I belive there used to be a whole list of phone numbers for differtent Depts, may have been on old site, see if i can dig them up.

i go pike fishing an i have never heard of using coalie\'s for deadbaits i dont what it is about this time of year i hear people say when im on the pier i was down yesterday and had 30 odd mackrel what do they do with them all surly 30 mackrel will fill your freezer so why catch and kill anymore i know mackrel is nice to eat which is fair enuf but i dont think i could eat 30 again its down to how big your freezer is i put it down to the seangling mentality whats the point of catching fish if you cant keep them to eat i wish i had a pound for everytime when talking about pike fishing sumbody says can you eat pike well ithink people should learn a course fisherman attitude if you catch a bigun take a photo then put it back this is especailly when you catch bass considering how long they take to grow yes take the odd one if its sizeable but if they undersize chuckthem back
