Aye Jim, I realise it IS a case of going over well trodden ground and most people have had their say on the issue, but there\'s been a good number of people joined the site since this was last raised........they now have a chance to voice their opinion, also.

However, to my mind, there IS only 1 view.......the keeping of LEGALLY DEFINED undersized fish is illegal.......NO ARGUMENT.....and that rule applies to ALL anglers fishing within the bounds of the area that the rule applies to.

By the way......incase anybody got the wrong idea........I don\'t drive at 55mph on 30mph roads.........I was only citing that as a similar ridiculous reason for assuming that a set limit didn\'t apply on environmental grounds.........lol

Lol Peter.......I think the word should be \"released\" not \"returned\"

Going back to Charlton, s post regarding DEFRA. I have just had an interesting conversation with the fisheries department of DEFRA and they sugest if you want to report people for taking undersized fish ( as it is illegal ) you should phone either of these numbers.
For the north side of the Tyne-- Northumberland Fisheries Committee 01670 731399
For south side of the Tyne---North eastern Fisheries Committee 01482 339690
          Hope this helps everyone

DEFRA wre not aware that NESA existed, but they,ve now had a look at the site and are very impressed that there are so many concerned anglers.

            Jim.
Remember, some people are alive simply because it is illegal to shoot them.

Funny not DEFRA not knowing about NESA they went along South Shields pier when anglers from NESA raised their concerns about the undersized mackerel being taken by a certain section of anglers. And I quiter ofetn have dealings with the lads at Shields. Who was it you spoke to Malcolm, Rob or Ian

Alan, I cant recall who it was I spoke to regarding NESA. I was talking to a young lady at DEFRA for a while then she passed me on to the gentleman who gave me the numbers. He had,nt heard of NESA so I giuded him through the site as we talked.
I,m just glad I could get those numbers. The school holidays start soon, then just think of the slaughter of small fish and mackrel on all the piers.

farmed fish - no limts apply to size

cos they grow slowly they are harvested smaller than they might be to get a return on the money invested in farming them, bass get to about 12oz to a pound in size relatively quickly, they next few pounds take years. got a friend in scotland who farms salmon and thought of diversifying

I\'d never really thought about it till now and no matter how you look at it, it doesn\'t sound particularly conservation minded, humane, or ethical, but how many times has the xpression been seen on here

                                definately ammo for the anti\'s
