I use the 1600 for fishing from a height, cliffs, piers ect. And havnt noticed a drop in power. Saying that I don't have it on constantly and prefer the least powerful beam option.
It's a mega light that in my opinion is overkill on the beach.
I use my princeton Tec apex for the beach and walking to and from marks as its got a wider beam.
        Stay safe!
        Enjoy your fishing!

I've just getting a 1200 one and used it the neet it was great but after 3 hours started to dull then brighten in spasms , sussed it tho , has yours got a rubber battery back on it like mine ? If so the battery's move slightly while on your head and it must be running on one battery , which it will as I've tried in the house , I left it on for a hour + to see how long it would last after fishing and it was dulling until I picked it up and by accident held the rubber cover which rehoused the battery's propery and it lit up bright again .
Try pushing the battery's firmly in when it dulls , just squeeze the rubber back to resite them , if it's not that then I'm buggered if I know but there're cheap as chips and cheaply made so could be a wiring problem ?????
          I am a fisherman !
It is not merely something that I do
It is who I am !
Fishing is not simply my escape.
It is where I am supposed to be.
It is not a place that I go
But a lifelong journey that I am taking
It is a passage that was shown to me and that I will continue to show others.
When you understand all of this you will then know me .
          And we will fish together

it cud be the batterys supplied with the lamps cheap copies ,i will be looking into buying some proper ones see how they cope if all else fails al be using me old cree 600 which iz longer lasting with either AAA,s or other methods of batterys in the same voltage works

EDIT might be an option if ya saying that stretch the springs a bit so the batterys are tighter

I have just bought a 1600 cree and used it for the first time friday night. I to noticed it dulling after a couple of hours. I have noticed some lads on here order separate batteries, better ones than the supplied batteries, maybe the original batteries are just cheap s***e.
