had couple hours shields pier last night, set up hour before hi water at rail end,1st chuck, bang, rod snapped, gutted, daint na what could of happend, the only thing i can think is,as i was putting line threw the eyes, the winds blew line round rod and ive carried on threw the next eye without noticing,i always use my reverse switch on fixed spool to let line out before i cast,to make sure line isnt wraped round tip light, the lead dropped freely, line hanging straight dwn from my top eye.just dont understand,it ripped 8" off top of my afaw big beach, only had it few month and just had rebuild,to say im gutted is a understatement, spent months lookin for tip for afaw rock rod, eventually bought new 1(full rod)and now this, manufacturers dont stock the tips anymore since they brung the mk2 out, which is a joke, very helpful at afaw but surely should be to replace tips, its only couple year old, century, greys all provide replacements for decent prices,so im on the look out for new tip, phoned manufacturer and all lcal tackle shops, nothing they can do,except try to sell me new rod,not the best start to a winter season.
