  • Places to fish around Beadnell Northumberland

Hello All. I am hoping some one or more can help me.
I am Getting back into my sea fishing after a 3 year gap. Wanting to fish from the shore around the Northumberland coast between Beadnell and Warkwoth. Visited the coast last week and the rocks at Beadnell looked good as did the rocks from Castor. Heard the beach from Embelton to Dunstanburgh Castle is good, but some bits have heavy weed. So just asking any advice in the best places etc......

Thanks and looking forward to get fishing.

All of the rock marks from beadnell down to warkworth require heavy tackle. Most of the fishing around these places is into kelp beds and rocky gullies. Craster, north of the harbour is probably the most tackle hungry place ive fished. The beaches at beadnell, newton, embledon, alnmouth and warkworth are pretty snag free and can produce good catches of flounders. Too many rock marks to name but most round that area are into deep water. Best bet is have a look at low water and to give them a go and take plenty sinkers.

Depending on where you fish there's some canny high water marks aswell as low, fish the gullies at beadnell over low but he long skeer behind the harbour you can fish at any stage of the tide.during the summer (what little we get) fish it flat calm but during the winter it fishes best with a bit sea running, newton and craster are very similar best bait this time of year is crab fresh or frozen. Most of the beaches will produce flounder and small turbot during the day using rag or crab tipped with mackerel, during darkness the fatties tend to be smaller

        Embelton Beach

Thanks guys for all the info. As just getting back into sea fishing might give the rocks a miss for a bit until some more practice.

Will give the beach at embelton a visit in the next few weeks. Any advice for winter fishing on the beach best tides,s location etc

Thanks again everybody for your help

If you're fishing the beaches just have a couple of hours down and up over low water. Don't chuck too far, fish can be with a few yards on these beaches. Baits as been discussed. Good luck.

            Embleton Beach

Eventually got some time to go fishing at Embleton. Went yesterday Thursday 8th Nov had a good day with a few small dabs, flounders, all to small for the kitchen table, but did catch a 2lb TURBOT and that was perfect for tea. Thanks everybody for your advice.

Glad you enjoyed it, love the beaches up there. Some good turbot around, seen some lovely ones but only ever had little ones myself.

For the turbot fish strip or sandeel definately the best for the better ones. Long strips of the white belly good, saw two good ones taken at Warkworth on successive casts to that bait.
