  • There`s always next time

First time out beach/rock fishing in over 10yrs .......new rod, reel ect and time to give it a try so off i headed down to Boaties Bay........couple of practise casts( and a big birds nest haha ) on the cleaner ground of the beach then i clambered over to the rock edges , set up and dropped a bait just over the kelp ..........that and several more casts resulted in lost gear :-)
Had 1 solitary bite which almost pulled the rod off the rest ....good fish on then snagged and lost ......not another bite for 2 hrs so moved round to fish the cleaner ground during the flood ...............nothing,not a touch :-( Went home having blanked but still its nice to be out fishing again :-)

    Lessons learned :-

Must find a better method of rigging rotten bottoms !

Never try and walk a mile in neoprene chesties ever again :-)

Plenty of easier marks to fish if your just back into shore fishing mate lol. Last time I needed waders I wore my surfing wetsuit which worked just as well and was a bit more comfortable lol.

At least you got out mate! Beats X FACTOR!
