i think there would of been a bigger turn out had the tickets been for sale earlier the seation sluice one was perfect brilliantly ran but buying your tickets from one place then everyone having a mad dash is dangerous and old hat with the size of the boundries to if there that big they should have a longer weigh in allow the lads to get up to sea houses and then plenty of time to get back

Trouble with comps these day bounderies are to big and the weigh-in to short, had the same trouble at the amble open years ago next year they added an extra half hour then a few years later they extended the boundries and shortend the weigh-in time back to 1 hour, what was the logic behind that given the roads and parking its just asking for an accident to happen

an hour and 15min shud be long enough to get back from anywhere..
i mite be wrong but i think newbiggin has the longest weigh in time of all the opens..
we fished craster and had to stop at the garage at amble when our oil light stated flashing and still got back 40min before the end of the weigh in

Competition rules are the same for everyone, and the vast majority manage.

fish most of my comps at craster never been late back yet. if ya have fish to weigh in you leave that little bit earlier and if it was caught in the last 5 min of comp get ya runnin shoes on but should still be able to make weigh in with time to spareNothing makes a fish bigger than ALMOST being caught

The Seaton sluice open was 2hrs weigh on and was too long IMO and 1hr is ample except for say the holderness matches where you often have to travel to find a fishable beach and the weigh in is not central.. Most lads don't want to be hanging around for hrs. Personally a comp should be about angling ability not about catching fish from some hidden mark. Boundaries are getting too big. Numbers used to be massive and boundaries were often Tyne to Blyth or Tyne to Druridge. Plenty big enough for a competition. Many anglers me included don't want to be wasting fuel travelling 30 miles up to the coast. People would be surprised what can be caught on their doorstep and would do well to learn marks rather than it becoming a lucky dip!
