i have used climax quite a bit and found it ok but prefer greased weasel it is very supple and easier to tie knots with
Remember, some people are alive simply because it is illegal to shoot them.

U just use the bargain basement 50lb spools you get about 250 yards of it for £3!

        Never used fancy shockleader

Prefer Greased Weasel in grey as I don\'t like bright lines. Find it is supple enough and abrassion resistance is good. A mate has got a bulk spool of orange Ron Thompson which looks and feels like Greased Weasel but I don\'t know wether they do it in grey. If anyone knows let me know as it is a lot cheaper.

I just use cheap or free shockleader can\'t see the point in spending a fortune on it.
              Cheers Alan...

I have used the Climax 50lb shock leader that came free with Total Sea Fishing a couple of months ago, but found it hard to tie knots in & when I did eventually tie them, they came undone a few times resulting in lost tackle. It was clear line and really thick.
I now have a new spool of Climax shock leader, but 60lb breaking strain, free from this months Sea Angler mag. This time it is green and a lot thinner. Haven\'t had chance to use it yet, but it certainly looks like it will be better.

Greased Weasel is the best I have used so far.

Greased weasel for me although i do sometimes use the shakespeare stuff off harris angling and sometimes when i\'m all out i just buy a cheap spool of 50lb line and use that does the trick. :P
                    Always got it!

The trouble I find with that Climax they give away on the mags is that it is too stiff and you can\'t get good knots in it as was said earlier. I usually give it away to some young uns. Greased Weasel isn\'t the cheapest but it does the job and gives you the confidence it is safe. I\'ve only ever lost it when the whole lot goes, never had the leader snap its self.

I use the Suffix stuff in 200m spools. If you have problems tying knots in your leader try using a Blob knot. Melt the end of the shock with a lighter and give it a little tap on a flat surface. You then only have to tie a knot in your mainline. Kapeesh? I\'ll try dig out a link

Same as Ell and Rod, Suffix stuff is spot on. I use 80lb b/s and Ultima Powerflex seems ok too. I use Clear Powerflex for my rig bodies and is seems perfect, on a par with Maxima Marine Green.

You would have to be a bit of a powerhouse to snap 50lb shockleader even with a 6oz sinker on the end.
I just buy a bulk spool of 50lb Stead Fast cheapo £3 stuff from the tackle shop and use that to build my rigs and to use as shockleader.

No problems tying knots with it using a standard knot at the minute but learning to tie Bimini Twists and ive had no problem at all.

Ideal stuff if your skint or your fishing hard ground.
