When you load the reel keep the knot right at the edge of your spool

When your reeling in mate and hear the knot go through the tip ring then just time it so it ends up at the side of yer spool.

I use a strip of cycle innertube under my reel seat that just flaps over the spool for casting, it releases after the cast and stays out the way, it prevents cuts from the knot and spool slips.

Hi m8 you must be checking your cast as you let go and its catching your thumb when doing this as i always check my reel when the cast is slowing down and i have no problems with the shocker knot at any time and like the lads state keep your knot to the left hand side of your reel okay m8.Tight lines.
