  • Warning about frenchmans point south sheilds

fished frenchies on the point yesterday and noticed on the left hand side of the point which faces the north arm on the other side of the bay that there was a great big hole under the cliff. the last 3 or 4ft is full of cracks and looks like it is being held together by only mud so fish safe a fish is not worth your life

The whole point will fall in one day, I recon we should all get down there with some re-bar and quick drying concrete!
    Stay safe!
    Enjoy your fishing!
    Take your rubbish home!
    Rocker.

I don't know the area, but I know a bit about slips. If there are tension cracks on the surface it's a good idea to stay away, particularly if it's been raining or if there have been stormy seas. The rain can run in and lubricate the slip and storms can undercut the face.

The cracks are a certain sign that it's on its way. The only question is when.

if it moves or looks unsfae, wouldn't use it full stop, it could go any time never mind when rough

Looking at the wind and rain today and whats forecast for the rest of the week it might go sooner rather than later.

There's a flood warning and gale warning been issued at 10.30 today by the met office to last till tommorrow so anyone out tonight needs to take care.

The forecasted north/northeasteries will push the huge seas straight into the point and bay area, I was planning on going there for the Cleadon club comp tonight but im staying safe and staying in.
