  • Penn Screaming

Hi Guys, been having a problem with my 525 super mag knobby lately. When i cast out the reel screams, I'm sure the noise is coming from the mag brake side of the reel. also to support the brake theory, if I adjust the knob while casting the screaming stops, not always though. i have had the reel apart twice and can't see any faults. No loose mags or damage mag holder, nothing looks like it is rubbing or coming in to contact with anything. I must say the reel is working perfectly other than this noise.
    Any help would be appreciated.

good chance spool need moving towards the drive gearing as it is pos the magnet is touching the spool.
      Easy to sort.

Had same problem once with my 525mag. It was too much loose lateral spool play on the spindle. Must have loosened the end cap off a bit for some reason and forgot to adjust it back before the next session, gives you a bit of a fright when you're not expecting it.

Thanks for the replies lads, bearings are fine also no rubbing marks on spool. I don't think free play on spool is excessive, but i will try giving it a slight knip.
          cheers
